Wordle Solver
Type each guess you've made, tap its tiles until they match the colours you got, and see every word that is still possible and the guess that will narrow them down fastest. Works for 5-letter Wordle and 6-letter variants, and handles repeated letters exactly the way Wordle scores them.
Tap a tile to change its colour: gray, then yellow, then green.

How the solver works
Every guess and its colours rule words out: a green letter must be in that spot, a yellow letter must be in the word but somewhere else, and a gray letter is not in the word, or, if the same letter is also green or yellow, there are no more copies of it. The solver applies all of that at once by asking, for every word in its list, "would this answer have given exactly these colours?" The words that would are the ones listed.
The suggested guesses are ranked by how evenly they split the remaining words across the colour patterns they could get back, measured as information (bits): the more even the split, the fewer words you expect to be left. The note beside each guess is the worst case: the most words that could remain after it. That is the same method Funzzle Word's coach uses to explain your guesses.
Which words it knows
Possible answers are about 2,000 common five-letter words without plain plurals or past tenses, close to the kind of list Wordle draws its answers from. Tick the box under the results to include every valid five-letter word (plurals, past tenses and Scrabble words), around 8,600. For six letters it uses about 5,200 common words, with 1,700 rarer ones on request.
Sometimes the best guess is not a possible answer at all: a word that tests five new letters can tell you more than guessing one of three similar candidates. When that happens the suggestion is marked without "could be the answer".
Getting better without a solver
Start with a word that tests common letters (R, S, T, L, N and the vowels A, E, O), and don't spend a guess re-using gray letters until you are down to a handful of options. If you'd like to build the habit, play Funzzle Word: the coach shows after each guess how many words were still possible and which guess would have narrowed them down most.
Questions people ask
Is using a Wordle solver cheating?
It's your game, so it's your call. Many people use a helper after they're stuck or after the game, to learn which guess would have been better. The solver never knows today's answer: it only works from the colours you enter.
How do I enter a letter that appeared twice?
Exactly as Wordle coloured it. If you guessed SPEED and only one E is yellow, mark the other E gray: the solver then knows the answer has exactly one E.
What is the best first guess?
Words that cover common letters in common positions do best. The solver's list before any guess shows the top choices for its answer list; for five letters these are words like SLATE, CRANE and TRACE.
Does it work for 6-letter Wordle games?
Yes. Switch to 6 letters at the top. In hard mode, pick a suggestion marked as a possible answer: those always use your green and yellow letters.
