Word Unscrambler & Anagram Solver
Type your letters and get every English word you can make from them, longest first. Words that use every letter (true anagrams) are shown at the top, a ? stands for a blank tile, and you can sort by Scrabble score.
Type at least three letters.
Like making words from letters? Spelling Hive gives you seven letters a day, and Letter Box asks you to use all twelve.
How to use it
Enter between 3 and 15 letters. Each letter can be used as many times as you typed it: two Es in your letters means words with up to two Es. Add a ? (or *) for each blank tile; letters filled in by a blank are underlined, and they score nothing in Scrabble mode.
Results are grouped by length. Common words come first; tick Include rarer words to add the extra vocabulary word games accept, shown in grey. Use Shortest to hide the short words when you only want the long finds.
Anagrams, jumbles and word games
An anagram uses every letter exactly once (LISTEN and SILENT), and the unscrambler lists those first. Newspaper jumbles are anagrams too: type the scrambled letters and look at the top line. For Scrabble and Words With Friends, sort by score to see the most valuable plays from your rack before thinking about the board.
For daily practice making words from a fixed set of letters, Spelling Hive gives you seven letters with one that must be in every word, and Letter Box asks you to chain words through twelve letters on the sides of a square.
Questions people ask
What is the difference between an unscrambler and an anagram solver?
An anagram solver finds words that use all of your letters; an unscrambler also finds the shorter words you can make from some of them. This tool does both: full anagrams are shown first, then every shorter word.
How do blank tiles work?
Type ? for each blank. A blank can stand for any letter, and letters that came from a blank are underlined in the results.
Which dictionary does it use?
SCOWL, the open word lists behind most spell checkers, plus the ENABLE word-game list for five-letter words. Proper nouns, abbreviations and offensive words are left out.
Is there a letter limit?
Up to 15 letters, the width of a Scrabble board. With many letters the longest words appear as their word lists load, usually within a second.
