A puzzle for snow days
Winter break and snow days are long. Print a few days of winter word searches in advance and you have a quiet activity ready when everyone is stuck inside. Because the theme isn't a holiday, it fits any classroom through January and February, after the holiday decorations come down.
Learning with the winter list
The list includes some science words worth explaining as you go: hibernate (why some animals sleep through winter), solstice (the shortest day of the year), glacier and avalanche. Younger children can find the easy ones, sled, scarf, boots, igloo, while older ones look for the longer words in the hard grid.
