Stuck? I’ll show where a word starts, then which way it runs, then circle it.
Made for early readers
Children find words left to right and top to bottom long before they spot diagonals or backward words, so the easy kids' grids only use those two directions. The words are short and everyday: cow, pencil, zebra, ladybug. Each word is listed under the grid with a box to tick when it's found, which gives younger children a satisfying way to track progress.
When a child finds the easy grid quick, switch to medium: a bigger 12×12 grid that adds diagonal words but never backward ones.
A new theme every day
There are five kids' themes, farm animals, colors and shapes, at school, at the zoo, and bugs and insects, and the page moves to a different one each day. Print a week's worth for a set of all five, or come back each morning for the day's sheet. Teachers can use them as a calm start to the day or as early-finisher work, and the theme lists double as simple spelling practice.
