How to play Strands

Strands hides a set of theme words in a 6×8 grid of letters. Words are traced through adjacent letters in any direction, every letter is used exactly once, and the spangram — the word or phrase that names the theme — runs between two opposite sides of the board. Finding three non-theme words earns a hint.

Finished today's Strands? Funzzle's own free games in the same spirit are Word Hunt (a themed hunt with one word that spans the board) and Word Search (a themed grid with words in all 8 directions), each with a new puzzle every day.

Questions people ask

How does Strands work?

Strands is a New York Times word search on a 6×8 letter grid. Every letter belongs to exactly one answer: the theme words, plus a spangram that names the theme and touches two opposite sides of the board.

Is this Funzzle's own puzzle?

No. Funzzle is independent. These are the real answers to that day's official puzzle, taken from the publisher's own game data; Funzzle's own word games are separate puzzles with their own answers.
